The spirit of this itinerary is the taste. We will drive our vintage spider thru the territory whose cuisine is renowned throughout the world, and thanks to this "tradition" is home of the European Food Safety Authority situated on Parma and the International Culinary School at the Royal Palace of Colorno, an elegant and monumental architectural structure with over 400 rooms, courtyards and patios. The Palace is surrounded by a beautiful landscaped garden and was once inhabited by the Sanseverino, the Farnese, by the Bourbons and Marie Louise of Austria. Inside we can admire the XV century fountain and in the village the Romanesque church of San Giorgio.
Next stop San Secondo, famous for the delicious plate “cooked shoulder”, where we meet the Rocca dei Rossi: first medieval fortress and then the Renaissance residence, was inhabited by one of the most illustrious families of Parma: The Reds.
We proceed with our classic spider car in the direction of Roccabianca Castle which was built in the mid '400 for his beloved Bianca Pellegrini by the Magnificent Pier Maria Rossi. It houses the Distillery Museum.
Driving our classic spider next to Po 'river, we reach the paradise of Culatello: Polesine Parmense and Zibello are the most representative places for the processing of pork and seasoning of The Prince of salami. To Antica Corte Pallavicina was recently inaugurated the Museum of Culatello.
We are entering in Verdi's land, the places that have given birth to the Maestro Giuseppe Verdi: Roncole Verdi where we can visit the birthplace of the Master, while to Busseto there is the Theatre dedicated to this great musician. A few km from there is also situated the residence of Master in S. Agata of Villanova sull'Arda.
We drive our vintage spider and proceed on direction of Fontanellato, where we should stop and visit the magnificent Rocca San Vitale that was build in the center of the village, surrounded by a large moat filled with water: surrounds one of the masterpieces of Italian Mannerism, the room painted by Parmigianino in 1524 with the myth of Diana and Atteone. Into the Sanvitale Fortress of Fontanellato, can be visited the only Optical Chamber still in use in Italy.
Typical products are noted also thanks to the Food Museums: the Museum of Parmigiano-Reggiano based in Soragna in Parma, where there is also the Rocca Meli Lupi di Soragna, the splendid and magnificent residence of the Princes Meli Lupi that even today live there.
