This tour starts in Soave; the fortified city is surrounded by a high stone wall incorporating 24 towers, with the beautiful castle in the centre of town up on the hill. Below the Lessini mountains and surrounded by the Tramigna river the city is probably one of the most picturesque you will find in Italy although there are so many. Some of Italy’s finest white wines are produced here in Soave. Just a few minutes away from Vicenza the province in which we find Romeo and Juliet, in the town of Montecchio, and the magnificent Valmanara Morosini villa in the town of Altavilla Vicentina.
The second day you should certainly not miss the historical centre of Vicenza itself, characterized by the style and genius of Andrea Palladio along with the frescos of Tiepolo. Then on to the Villa Barbarico, Villa Poiana, Villa Pisani “La Rocca” just to mention some of the grandest villas of this area. The tour can now either wind its way to an end back in Soave or continue for a couple of days through Padova and Treviso…. it’s up to you.
